The beginning of what we know as the Christian church. 33 AD is the year that we know that represented that ever-important time that Christ was resurrected and his disciples were challenged to "go into all the world and preach the gospel to all nations."

A.D. 33 – THE MOST IMPORTANT YEAR IN HISTORY
Most scholars believe that Jesus was crucified on April 3, A.D. 33. Now, A.D. does not actually stand for After Death as many believe. It is a Latin term, meaning Anno Domini, which is translated into “the year of the Lord.” In 525, the calendar was developed by Dionysius Exiguus, an esteemed monk who wanted to coordinate the Gregorian and the Christian (Julian) calendars.
The designations of B.C. and A.D. were adopted by the early church and used as a way of determining the exact date of the birth of Christ.
What does A.D. 33 have to do with Christians?
It is important to remember that the birth, life and death of Jesus is an actual historical event. Against the backdrop of human history, Jesus became a man, communed with sinners, and offered his life as a ransom for many.
Three days later, Jesus rose from the tomb and revealed himself to his followers. Every year, millions of believers celebrate this event at Easter, reflecting on power of God to overcome death and give life. The Bible tells us that “God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).
Is A.D. 33 The Correct Date for Jesus' Death?
How was the date determined? The Gospel of Luke tells us that John the Baptist began his ministry in the 15th year of Tiberius Caesar and that Jesus started his ministry not long after that (Luke 3:1).
The physician turned disciple indicates that Jesus was around thirty years of age when he began his ministry and that the ministry of Jesus lasted about 3 years (Luke 3:23). These clues place Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection around the spring of A.D. 33.
While many scholars tend to debate this date, it should be noted that this detail isn’t necessary for salvation.
Yet, it is important as a reference point for Christians. When a person sees the date A.D. 33 on your shirt, they may wonder what happened that year to make it worth putting on a T-shirt. It is also a great reminder that we serve a Lord who is not just a figment of imagination but was an actual historical person.
He was not just a great teacher. He was not just a prophet. For countless of millions. Jesus is the actual incarnation of God to man. He was the one and only Son of God who gave himself as a substitute for sin, so that whoever calls on the name of the Lord, will be saved.
