ABOUT JEREMIAH 29:11 | GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE
“'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '” — Jeremiah 29:11.
Many Christians struggle with God’s plan for their lives. While they love the Lord, they allow the worries of the world, and the cares of each day cloud their vision for what God longs to do in them and through them. In Jer. 29:11, God declares to the prophet Jeremiah one of the basic tenets to living an abundant life in Christ.
GOD HAS A PLAN. IT IS HIS, NOT YOURS. Notice that the words of God to the prophet are clear. 'For I know the plans I have for you.’ God has a plan for your life, and it belongs to Him. Like the designer of a master blueprint, God has written out our days. He knows when we will be born, what we will do, who we will marry, and even the date of our death. While we might wish that God would share more of His will for us than He often does, it should give us comfort to know that the God of the universe, the Maker of Heaven and Earth has ordained our days. Even when we don’t know what is going on in our lives, God does. Even when we are convinced that the trials of life are going to overwhelm us, children of faith know that God is still in control.
GOD HAS A PLAN TO PROSPER US. 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you’ God’s purpose for our lives is designed for our best. While at times, it might not seem that way, God has no desire to bring His children harm. The Bible tells us that we are being changed from glory to glory, meaning that each day can be a new opportunity to experience His great love for us, as we grow into a deeper understanding of who He is.
The idea of God harming us often comes from having the wrong focus. The weight of burdens and the cares of our lives too often get the best of our thoughts and minds. The Bible tells us that when this happens, our immediate response should be giving God our problems. I Peter 5:7 states, “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” Even Jesus told us to “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matt. 11:29).
GOD HAS A PLAN TO GIVE US HOPE AND BUILD A FUTURE. There is a reason for God’s plan, and it is to give us the future of a relationship with Him for all eternity. What Christians often forget is that God’s plan isn’t just for the time we live on this earth, it is a plan for all eternity. Think about that for a moment. God loved you so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that you might not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Everlasting is exactly what it says. Eternity is Yours. Mine. Ours. As Children of God, we will live with our Heavenly Father forever and ever, basking in the light of His glory. What a wonderful future! What a glorious hope! What a comfort to know that God will one day welcome us to an eternal home. The truth is we were made for God. He desires that none should perish or be separated from Him, and because of the sacrifice of Christ, we don’t have to be. Rom. 5:8 states that God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
So, the nest time you struggle with God’s will, remember the plan. Remember God’s heart is for you. So, stick with the plan. The Plan He Knows. The Plan for Prosperity. The Plan for a Future and a Hope. The Plan for Eternity.
